Going on a bike ride and exploring Leh Ladakh’s beautiful landscape is on the bucket list for many travel enthusiasts. Recently our dream came true when we embarked on our bike ride journey and explored places around Leh. This travel blog is a glimpse of our exhilarating journey. Starting Early Morning:

On Day 2 of our 7 days Leh Ladakh Trip, we kick-started our journey early in the morning after having breakfast in our hotel at Leh. As we drove through Leh city, the cool breeze and the view of barren mountains with snow-covered tips added an extra dose of excitement to our early start.

Hall of Fame – Valour Story

We reached our first stop the Hall of Fame at 9 am. The Hall of Fame is a tribute to the sacrifice and bravery of the Indian armed forces in Ladakh region. The museum showcases artifacts, photographs, and stories that depict the valor of the Indian armed forces.

The museum remains open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It is a must-visit place and takes approximately, 1 hr to explore. Various displays of armor, arms, and ammunition were used by the Indian Army during the Kargil War and the Siachen War. Apart from this, various displays represent Ladakhi culture. There is also a war memorial as a tribute to the fallen heroes.

Pattar Sahib Guru Dwara – A Divine Haven

By 10.30 am, we reached Pathar Sahib Guru Dwara a famous Sikh Shrine situated at an altitude of 12,000 ft and is considered one of the highest Gurudwaras in the world. The Gurudwara opens at 4.15 am and closes at 8.30 pm. We enjoyed hot tea and Langar ( a free communal meal served to all visitors). After taking a hearty lunch and lots of photos, we left for our next destination by 12.30 pm.

Magnetic Hills – Defying Gravity

After driving for just 5mins, we reached Magnetic Hills. These hills are famously known for having a peculiar magnetic force that makes vehicles move uphill when left in a neutral state. We spent a  good amount of time witnessing this strange yet unbelievable sight of vehicles being pulled uphill and seemingly defying gravity.

Sangam View Point – Confluence of Rivers

After having a fun time at Magnetic Hills, we reached Sangam View Point by 1.30 pm. Sangam Viewpoint is a place where you can witness two mighty rivers, the Indus and Zanskar, merge in a spectacular display of nature’s artistry. At the altitude of 11600 feet from sea level, the Sangam viewpoint is extremely windy and the roadside is covered in Buddhist prayer flags, that flutter wildly and enhance the awe factor of this place.

We took a moment to absorb the tranquility of the surroundings and captured photographs of this mesmerizing confluence.

Nimmo Village – A Picturesque Retreat

By 2 pm, we arrived at the charming Nimmo Village, situated amidst the stunning landscapes of Leh. The village is known for its apricot farming. Fortunately, we visited Ladakh in the month of April and witnessed the apricot trees covered in beautiful pink blossoms which created a surreal atmosphere.

We took a stroll, savoring the beauty of nature, and interacting with the warm-hearted locals who call this place home. The village offers a glimpse into the traditional Ladakhi way of life, with its quaint houses and terraced fields. By 3.30 pm we bid adieu to this beautiful village and started the final leg of our journey.

Zanskar Valley – Nature’s Grandeur

As we drove towards our last destination, the Zanskar viewpoint, we decided to document the stunning display of Nature’s artistry as much as we can. We took multiple stops and drove slowly as we tried to memorize the breathtaking scenery around us.

As we drove through winding roads, the beauty of Zanskar Valley unraveled before our eyes, in no time we were surrounded by towering hills and the soothing sound of the gushing Zanskar River which continued to flow by our side till the very end.

We also witnessed adventurous souls enjoying river rafting on the gushing waters, which added an element of thrill to this beautiful landscape.

During our ride, we encounter a majestic Yak crossing our path. It was a gentle reminder of the untamed wilderness that resides in this region. Captivated by its magnificence, we stopped to observe and appreciate this incredible creature. We also seize the opportunity to capture photographs, creating lasting memories of this remarkable encounter.

Return to Leh:

Around 5 pm, as the sun began to set and the temperature started to drop, we bid farewell to Zanskar Valley and started our journey back to Leh. On our way back, we took another stop at Pathar Saheb Gurudwara and had hot tea and snacks, which were again offered by the gurdwara free of cost as part of their communal service.

Bonus:

With our hearts full of unforgettable experiences and cameras filled with cherished photographs of Pathar Saheb Gurudwara, Nimmo Village, and Zanskar Valley, we were in no mood to end our joy ride. We decided to make yet another stop at Hall of Frame and were lucky enough to catch the evening 8 o’clock light and laser show.

By 9.30 pm, we returned to Leh City, which marked the end of a very special journey. However, we carried with us not just photographs and memories but also a deep appreciation for the captivating landscapes, the warmth of the local communities, and the sense of adventure that defines Leh Ladakh. The bike ride allowed us to witness the raw beauty of nature, encounter unique experiences, and create lifelong memories.
