Most of the popular destinations in Ladakh are 3000 meters (10,000 feet) above sea level. Acclimatization is crucial to avoid altitude sickness.  Accent Gradually. Allow your body to adjust to the higher altitude. Carry suitable medicine after prior consultation with a doctor.

Weather

Ladakh experiences extreme weather conditions, with temperatures fluctuating greatly between day and night.  Even during summer, nights can be cold, so pack layers and be prepared for sudden changes in weather.

Limited Connectivity

Mobile network coverage is limited in many parts of Ladakh, especially in remote areas and mountain passes.  Inform your loved ones about your itinerary beforehand. Carry a prepaid SIM or consider purchasing a local SIM card if needed.

Expenses

Due to high transportation costs the basic commodities in Ladakh are quite expensive. ATMs and UPI payments are available only in the city like Leh.  Carry sufficient cash (only Indian Rupee) while travelling.

Transportation

Hire a travel service in advance. They will charge based on number of passengers and the type of vehicle hired. Common mode of transportation are Mini bus , MPV and SUV. Bike Rentals are also available in Leh city. This is subject to the  availability of the bikes.

Basic Amenities

Major towns like Leh and Diskit have basic amenities like hotels, restaurants, and medical facilities. Remote areas lack conveniences. Carry essentials like snacks, oxygen can, necessary medications and plenty of water with you at all time.

Due to its high altitude and clear skies, Ladakh receives intense sunlight, increasing the risk of sunburn and dehydration.  Carry sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from UV radiation.

Carrying a fully charged phone, power bank , food , water and oxygen can. Wear weather appropriate clothing to avoid getting sick.
